Are Your Sterile Containers Really Sterile? From Assumption to Assurance – Floris Lina, Entrhal Medical
Reusable sterilisation containers must keep the sterile barrier intact until the instruments inside are used. But how do we know they’re actually doing that? In this presentation, Floris Lina from Entrhal Medical looks at the risks that come from container wear and damage. Some defects are too small to see with the naked eye but are still large enough for bacteria to get through.
Floris compares the common ways containers are checked today: visual inspection, smoke, paper and water tests. He then shares findings from recent studies in France and Hong Kong. These show that visual inspection depends too much on the person doing it, and that a routine, repeatable test that doesn’t rely on human judgement is needed.
He then introduces ConTeg, a container test device that gives a clear pass/fail result in minutes. It’s precise, documentable and easy to fit into your existing reprocessing workflow.
